At Bougie Tallow Company, everything begins with our grass fed, grass finished tallow sourced directly from our own family farm. We render the tallow ourselves in small batches, often multiple times, to ensure purity and a smooth, clean final product. Every jar is then formulated, poured, labeled, and packaged by hand.
Tallow’s fatty acid profile closely matches the natural oils produced by human skin. Because of this similarity, it absorbs easily, supports the skin barrier, and helps restore balance without clogging pores.
Tallow naturally contains fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which play important roles in skin repair, elasticity, and overall skin health.
Unlike many plant oils that sit on the surface, tallow penetrates deeply into the skin. It hydrates from within and helps maintain long lasting moisture without leaving a greasy residue.
The natural fatty acids in tallow help reinforce the skin’s protective barrier. This helps prevent moisture loss while shielding the skin from environmental stress.

Many products claim to use “grass fed” tallow, but that often only means the cattle ate grass early in life and were later finished on grain. Grass fed, grass finished cattle remain on pasture their entire lives. This produces tallow that typically contains higher levels of beneficial fatty acids, antioxidants, and fat soluble vitamins, making it a higher quality ingredient for skincare.

Grass finished cattle remain on pasture their entire lives, producing tallow that is typically richer in beneficial fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants compared to conventional fats. This results in a cleaner, more nutrient dense ingredient for skincare.
Because our products contain stable natural fats and no water (anydrous), they typically have a shelf life of 12–18 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct heat.

Bougie Tallow Company was built from the ground up—right here in Tennessee, with fat from cattle raised on Shelly’s father’s farm, FH Farms. These cows are grass-fed, never grain-finished, and raised without hormones or antibiotics. It’s not a slogan—it’s how they’ve always done it.
The idea was simple: take the highest-quality fat we had access to, and turn it into something that gave back. We didn’t need middlemen, fancy marketing, or mass production. We had the land, the cows, and the skills. So we got to work.
We render every batch of tallow ourselves—low and slow, in small quantities—to preserve the integrity of the fat and ensure purity. No industrial shortcuts. No Preservatives. No question marks. Just clean, grass-fed tallow, some avocado oil as a carrier with a touch of beeswax when needed.
